We’ll begin on Via della Conciliazione, the grand processional avenue constructed by Mussolini in the 20th century. Here, we’ll discuss the transformation of the Vatican landscape and the architectural history of St. Peter’s. Moving through Bernini’s grand square, we’ll enter the basilica itself, following a path through its magnificent art and architecture while uncovering the history of both the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica.
Vatican Grottoes
Next, we’ll explore the Vatican Grottoes (Tomb of the Popes), located between the ancient Constantinian Basilica and the present-day structure.
