Naples Capodichino International Airport

Located just outside the city center, Naples Capodichino Airport (NAP) is the main gateway to Southern Italy. Find out the most convenient transport options, including taxis and shuttle buses, reaching Naples, Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast.

Naples Capodichino International Airport

Naples Capodichino International Airport is the busiest airport in Southern Italy, and one of the busiest in the entire country. It has service from 47 airlines, connecting Naples with more than 120 cities in 37 countries around the world - including long-haul direct flights from several US airports. Capodichino is a little under four miles from the center of Naples.

Terminals

Capodichino has one terminal building with 20 gates, divided among three sections: A, B and C. Since there's only one building, it's relatively easy to navigate on foot. But, depending on your flights, you may be loaded into a shuttle to get from the plane to the terminal (or vice versa).

Getting to/from NAP Airport

There are a few good options for getting into Naples from NAP or vice versa.

Taxis

Because the airport is located so close to the historic center of Naples, taking a taxi is both economical and a quick 5-10 minutes. There's a flat taxi rate to or from the airport, depending on where you're going or coming from in the city, starting at €21 (plus added tariffs for things like luggage or night trips). There are also flat taxi rates to nearby destinations like Pompeii (€70), Sorrento (€125) and the Amalfi Coast (€145-160).

By bus

The airport's proximity to central Naples makes taking the bus a more convenient option than it is in many Italian cities. Alibus shuttles connect Capodichino with the train station and cruise port. The trip to the train station (from which point you can take a city bus, a taxi or the metro further into the historic center) takes about 15 minutes and a ticket costs only €5.

By car

Capodichino Airport can be reached via the A1, A3, A16 and E45 highways, and there are nine car rental companies serving the airport. Only Sixt has a kiosk in the terminal - the others are all housed in a separate building that's connected to the terminal by a free shuttle service. The drive from NAP into Naples takes about five minutes, depending on traffic, but since driving in the historic center isn't for the faint of heart, we'd recommend skipping the car rental unless your destination is elsewhere in Campania.
