The location of the Corso Carlo and Corso Ambrose is wonderfully convenient to shopping and sightseeing. And these two apartments are freshly decorated and well furnished.

These two apartments couldn't be better located. If you step off the Spanish Steps and walk straight ahead, you'll find them just where Via delle Carrozze intersects with the Corso. Proceed past this building, take a left, and you will find the Pantheon and the wonderful streets that lead over to Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori.

The Via del Corso connects Piazza del Popolo with its obelisk and twin churches and Piazza Venezia that is dominated by the Victor Emmanuel Monument (humorously called "The Typewriter" and the "Candy Chef's Monument").

This immediate area is shopping central with every known and aspiring designer represented in the streets around the Spanish Steps.

The building faces the elegant Grand Plaza Hotel and is next to the wonderful baroque basilica of Saints Ambrose and Carlo.

There is a small piazza in front of the building which fills up with the motorbikes of people who work in the area. There you will find little dune buggy type vehicles for rent by the hour, the sign says no license required! The price varies depending on demand. Another company offers bicycle driven buggies that seat six, a fun way to move around the town.

The Via del Corso is partially closed to traffic and the street in front of this building is prime strolling territory with a constant parade of Romans and visitors. If you focus away from the Spanish Steps to the west of the Corso, you will find a whole, somewhat separate village. One of the beauties of renting an apartment is that you get to know the city more deeply.

You enter the apartments through a side door in the building. The apartments are technically on the second floor (American designation), but there is a mezzanine level in-between, so it is 35 steps straight up from the front door to the apartments. The steps are fairly steep and there is no elevator.

Each apartment is totally separate, but their entrances face each other and there are no other apartments on the stairwell, so a larger party could rent both and move between them without disturbing the neighbors.
The Carlo apartment, approximately 1,100 square feet, overlooks a lovely internal courtyard that provides quiet and light. Entrance is not, however, through this courtyard but through a side entrance for the building.
This is a long apartment with the rooms one after the other, railroad style, kitchen, dining, living room, small bedroom one and, through it, the master bedroom. The bathroom is tucked behind the kitchen. There are four large windows along one side that let in lots of light.

The bright living/dining room area is spacious. The table is quite large, seating six. A small table holds the television. A large, antique hutch holds the dishes and has lots of room for keeping the things you need. The L-shaped sofa is super comfortable. An antique folding chair adds seating and interest. Two large windows overlook the internal court with its fountain and cloister. Between the windows is a marble console with a painting above it.

The kitchenette is modern with a four burner stove top, small refrigerator with freezer shelf for ice, sink, and dishwasher. The pots, pans, knives, and utensils are of good quality and lack for nothing.
The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, bedside tables with reading lamps and a side chair. An armoire stores your clothing.

The second bedroom has a bureau, wall cupboard, nested tables, two lamps and a twin bed that converts into two twins or a queen. In the photo, the second bed is shown at trundle height, but it also pops up to the same height as the first bed. If you are interested in this clever Italian system, the second bed part slides out from underneath, then you simply lift it and the legs drop down putting it at the same height as the original bed. You can align the beds as two halves of a queen and make them up that way, or separate them. Not that you need to worry about that, we will have them made up to fit your party.

The bathroom is decorated with coral tiles. The large shower had an ample water heater so you may take reasonable length showers.

All the radiators have been removed, so the heating, if needed, is via electric radiators which work wonderfully well. The only caution would be keeping toddlers away from the radiators.

We have thoroughly inspected this apartment and our frank evaluation is:

We tested the beds that slide out and found them just as comfortable as the others.
Very little traffic noise penetrates to this internal apartment.
Linens are luxurious and include a terry bathrobe.
Storage for clothing is a bit limited.
The master bedroom is accessed through the smaller bedroom, so this apartment is more suited to families than three or four adults.
