Splendida - Sleeps 6
Luxurious Florence Apartment with Terrace in Historic Center
Elegant and luxurious penthouse overlooking
the Arno River in the best neighborhood in Florence. Three
bedrooms, two and half baths, a professionally equipped kitchen,
daily housekeeping service, terrace, piano and more will make you
feel like royalty!
All superlatives apply to this bright and welcoming apartment overlooking the Arno River in a noble palace in Florence. It is the Florence "pied a terre" for an Italian noblewoman of ancient, royal lineage, a true princess. She calls this her lady's apartment where she comes several times a year to entertain friends, participate in theater season and to shop the marvelous designer stores of Florence.
This is a spacious home on the top floor of Palazzo Corsini, a
palace that, itself, is a destination for formal events and as an
art institute. The terrace overlooks the courtyard of the palace as
well as the Arno river with timeless views up and down the river
and across to the Pitti side and the verdant hills beyond. Most of
the rooms overlook the Arno and, because of the height, are
insulated against excessive traffic noise.
The neighborhood is the best in Florence within easy walking distance of all the famous sights as well as being in the heart of designer shopping.
This penthouse, approximately 1900 square feet, is exceptionally
well appointed. The eat-in kitchen is small but professionally
equipped with US appliances including microwave, full sized
refrigerator with freezer and ice maker, a five burner gas stove,
oven, as well as an extensive collection of cooking tools. A cook
is available for dinners and dinner parties with advance
arrangements
The entry has a sofa and bookshelves and leads into the light-filled living room that overlooks the Arno River. Lovely antiques and art adorn the room that also contains a tuned Steinway piano. In addition to the living room, there is a more casual library with entertainment center where you can put your feet up to read a book, watch television or listen to music. There is a stereo system, CD player, music library, DVD player and a whole-house stereo system so music can fill your days in Florence. Satellite TV reception tunes you into worldwide news and entertainment.
The dining room is elegant with antique sideboard, Murano glass
fixtures, and original art. The dining room opens onto the small,
triangular terrace where a few can dine al fresco in the warm
months, or, just sip your coffee watching the scullers gracefully
propelling their boats on the river.
The bedrooms and two baths are grouped at one end of the home for maximum privacy. The lovely master bedroom has a convertible king, i.e. the bed can serve as twins or, joined, a king. An antique armoire, and Murano chandelier add elegance to this room that overlooks the Arno, too. The second, twin bedroom, in shades of rose has a small desk for keeping up your correspondence with an occasional glance out the window to the Tuscan hills. The third bedroom offers twin beds and welcomes with warm yellows in distinctive fabrics.
Near the kitchen is a "wardrobe room" with washer, iron, and ironing board. A half bath is also in this part of the home.
